After suffering a 13-3 loss at the hands of Friday Harbor to open the season Tuesday afternoon, the Coupeville High School softball team traveled to Mount Vernon on Friday and hammered Concrete 20-9.

The Wolves banged out 16 hits in the game that was called after five innings of play on the 10-run rule.

Taylor Sherman pitched the first three innings to pick up the victory and Roxi Piechowski tossed the final two. The pair combined to give up just two hits.

Katie Smith was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI for Coupeville, and Mandi Murdy was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Emma Puharic was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate and scored twice.
