Threads made the uncommon way

Nov 03 2009

The Whidbey Weavers Guild is presenting “Uncommon Threads,” its annual sale at the Greenbank Farm this weekend, Nov. 6 and 7.

About 150 fiber artists will offer hand-woven, hand-spun and hand-dyed items. The guild members meet in large groups and share what they learn to one another.

Clothing, accessories, linens, rugs, yarns, felted items, baskets and jewelry will all be featured at the sale. There will be things of practical use and items to decorate.

A fiber kit may also help you take up a new skill. Guild members will help people ply, twine or felt. Weaving, spinning and other fiber arts will also be demonstrated.

The guild members range from beginners to internationally recognized fiber artists who come from eight counties in the region.

Their work is great for holiday gifts and don’t miss the pie at the cafe.

The sale is Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Greenbank Farm is located at 765 Wonn Rd. on Highway 525. Visit www.whidbeyweaversguild.org for more information.
