Builders hand out awards

At the Skagit/Island Counties Builders Association monthly dinner meeting June 15, the association’s annual awards were presented.

The SICBA 2008 Builder of the Year award was presented to Scott Yonkman of Yonkman Construction, Inc.

The 2008 Associate of the Year award was presented to Russell Hester of OrePac Building Products.

The following were selected as SICBA’s 2008 Projects of the Year:

Overall Project of the Year: The Olson residence, on Whidbey Island, built by Yonkman Construction Inc.

Single-family residence, 3,001 square feet and above: The Wiegand residence in Coupeville, built by Cascade Custom Homes & Design, Inc.

Single-family residence, 2,000 to 3,000 square feet: The Gage residence in Darrington, built by Spane Buildings Inc.

Single-family residence, up to 1,999 square feet: The Sheldon residence in Coupeville, built by Clifton View Homes. The Sheldon residence also won the National Association of Home Builders Green Building Project of the Year for Single Family -- Concept/Research at the 2009 National Green Building Conference in Dallas.

Remodel of the Year: The Holland residence in Coupeville, built by Clifton View Homes.

Accessory building, 2,000 square feet and above: The Gage residence in Darrington, built by Spane Buildings Inc.

Accessory building, up to 1,999 square feet: The Hall residence on Camano Island, built by Spane Buildings Inc.

Commercial building: Right Way Plumbing Heating A/C in Sedro-Woolley, built by Right Way Solar, Wind, Geothermal.
