LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Freeland is looking good
Nov 03 2009
To the editor:
We’re not in Lynnwood any more! Freeland is beginning to feel like a place where I want to be. I hardly recognized Main Street the other day; thought I had absentmindedly taken a wrong turn after leaving US Bank.
Instead of the sprawling parking lot, naked and ugly on the north side of the street, there were these beautiful poured-cement planters, imprinted with water and mountain icons. Better yet, there were plantings and small trees, in keeping with other efforts by various groups to give our town a sense of being.
I don’t know who is responsible, but they get a gold star for citizenship in my mind.
It takes a lot of time, effort and tenacity to put together something which has a great impact on how a place feels. My heartfelt congratulations. I hope to see more as Freeland Town makes an effort to welcome us and comes into its own.
