UPDATE | Wayward log causes ferry delay

Nov 19 2009

Today's 9:30 a.m. sailing on the Clinton-Mukilteo route was delayed by a log in the ferry lane, said Joy Goldenberg, communications manager for Washington State Ferries.

Goldenberg said the ferry system deployed a rescue boat to move the log out of the way, and also examined a small craft that was in the area, but added the log was the real reason for the 20-minute delay in the Clinton sailing.

She also said an earlier report of a body in the water by a dock worker was not true.

"There was just a log," Goldenberg said.

The line of vehicles waiting to board the Clinton ferry was backed up on Highway 525 up to the Clinton Food Mart. A stalled vehicle in the ferry lane was also adding to the delay.

The 9:30 a.m. sailing from Clinton departed at roughly 9:50 a.m.
