Candidates announced to replace county clerk

Nov 17 2009

Island County commissioners will hold a special meeting early next month to pick a replacement for County Clerk Sharon Franzen.

Franzen announced last month that she would resign from her elected office on Dec. 15, with more than a year left in her term.

Because Franzen is a Democrat, three candidates to replace her have been selected by the Island County Democratic Central Committee. The committee has forwarded the names of Linda Moore, Patricia Terry and Debra Van Pelt as candidates.

During the commissioners' special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, the board will interview the candidates and pick a successor to Franzen.

The meeting will be held in the commissioners' hearing room in the basement of the County Annex Building, 1 NE Sixth St., Coupeville.
