Ragnar Relay may cause heavy traffic on South Whidbey streets

The second Ragnar Relay is headed to Langley this weekend and organizers said there may be traffic tie-ups.

On Friday and Saturday, Ragnar Relay runners will make their way from Blaine to Langley.

Teams of 12 will run relay-style 189 miles as they pass through Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties.

Now the largest relay series in the nation, the event expects more than 1,700 runners from all around the world for the Northwest Passage.

In Freeland, streets expecting heavy traffic from 7:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturday, July 26 include Bush Point Road, Shoreview Drive, Stewart Road, East Harbor Road, Main Street, Scott Road, Highway 525, Marshview Avenue and Bayview Road.

In Langley on Saturday, drivers should be careful on Brooks Hill Road, Third Street, De Bruyn Avenue, First Street, Cascade and Camano avenues.
