Letter to the Editor: Only a fraction showed to voice concerns at Glacier meeting

Jul 27 2010

Let’s see, we have 10,000-plus people on Vashon-Maury Island. One hundred or so showed up for the environmental impact statement scoping meetings at Vashon High School, concerning Glacier’s proposed mining expansion on Maury Island. Wow, that looks like 0.015 percent.

If there was that much concern about the project you would think the line of people to get into the hearing would reach to the highway and beyond. It seems it’s about time that we act in favor of the majority. One can only assume those who do not show up to be heard are either in favor of the project or just don’t give a hoot.
