Boy molested at Vashon swimming pool

A 12-year-old boy was molested at the Vashon Pool on June 21 by a sex offender from Seattle, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office.
The 40-year-old man, registered as a Level 3 sex offender, has been charged with second-degree child molestation and will be arraigned at King County Courthouse on July 9.
The man touched the boy’s buttocks and genitals in the locker room at the public pool on S.W. 204th Street.
The man is a known transient from Seattle who was visiting Vashon when the incident occurred. He admitted he had been drinking at the time of the molestation.
A friend of the victim identified the man the day after the incident when he saw the man at the library, according to the police report.
The man was on probation for a previous sex crime conviction in 2006.
If convicted for the incident, the man will face 31 to 41 months in prison, said King County prosecutor’s office spokesman Dan Donohoe.
