The PTSA’s seventh annual auction included some wonderful items, like the one being sold above — a birthday party at the fire station. Kevin Joyce, the auctioneer, was his usual lively self, whipping the crowd into a bidding frenzy on occasion with his fast-talking, you-can-do-it voice. Though proceeds are still being tallied, the auction may have brought in $120,000 and netted close to $100,000, said auction chair Lauri Hennessey. The event took place in the former K2 manufacturing site, which dozens of PTSA volunteers transformed from a cavernous, warehouse-like space into a vibrant, 1950s’ era diner.
