A jam-packed weekend of music fills the Red Bike

Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi is offering a line-up of free music this weekend.

The Vashon-based trio Track 19 — comprised of Bob Kueker, Phil Johnson and Rick Doussett — will lead off, starting at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2.

Track 19 blends Texas blues, Gypsy jazz and rhythm and blues to create music that concert promoter Pete Welch said “sounds bigger than your typical three-piece band.”

At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, Hillstomp will make its second appearance at the Bike.

“These guys took the town by storm last December,” said Welch. “They left a ton of exhausted people in their wake as they raced to catch the ferry.”

Hillstomp is comprised of Henry Kammerer, who plays guitar, and drummer John Johnson, who sits behind a collection of five-gallon food drums attached to a bass drum and snares. The duo plays original songs, traditional tunes and blues classics.

Opening for Hillstomp will be Sidestreet Reny, another duo Welch described as a crowd favorite at the Bike.

Both the Track 19 and Hillstomp shows will be for ages 21 and older only.

A concert by Song and Legend will be an all-ages affair, beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4.

Islanders Bob Koch and Rod Smith are the members of Song and Legend. Koch plays keyboards, and Smith plays guitar.
