Charlie Mahady, Emma Strong, Katherine Everitt, Calen Winn, Emily Hyde, Emily Gage, Clarissa Boyajian, Marika Treese, Daniel Chesney, Chelsea Hansen and Nelle Horsley, left to right, received American Studies Achievement Awards, presented by Vashon High School teachers Martha Woodard, Harris Levinson, Stephen Floyd and Mike Zecher. The American Studies course is taught by all four teachers for students in their junior year. According to Principal Susan Hanson, the school has been giving out achievement awards for more than 30 years. This year, approximately 330 students were honored. Students received either certificates for excellence or a medal for exceptional achievement. Awards are given in each academic discipline.
