Renton girls hang on to win opener | GIRLS BASKETBALL

February 28, 2013 · 6:09 PM

The Renton High School girls basketball opened state tournament play with a 38-34 win over Wapato Thursday afternoon in Yakima.

Renton opened up an early lead on the back of a big first half from Jordan Armstrong and headed into halftime ahead 21-11. The score, ironically, was the same first half score as the Indians sub-regional game against Sumner, however this time, the Indians were on top.

In the second half, Wapato turned it around, winning both quarters, but Renton was able to hold on to enough of their first half lead for the victory.

Renton will move on to play against the winner of the Cedarcrest - W.F. West game at 7:15 tomorrow, Friday.
