Auburn pin-master West snags 182-pound regional wrestling title

Auburn's 182-pound senior James West earned a berth at this weekend's Mat Classic XXV 4A wrestling championships with a regional title in his weight class at Saturday's Region III 4A meet at Auburn High School.
West edged closer to his school's all-time pin record with two pins at the tournament, including a pin at 52 seconds over Kentridge's Zach Seibel in the title match. West has 26 pins this season. The school record is 27.
Also earning berths at Mat Classic XXV were Trojans Tyson Gaillac (132), Josh Tate (152), Seth Mizoguchi (160) and Sam Lindsay (170).
Tahoma captured the regional team title with 226 points, edging Graham-Kapowsin who had 150.
Mat Classic XXV is Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.
ALSO: Auburn Riverside junior Larkin Williams qualified for the 285-pound bracket at Mat Classic XXV. ... In the girls competition, Auburn freshman Maritza Parra will wrestle in the 106-pound division.
