The Bonney Lake girls basketball team laid a whomping on the Peninsula Seahawks Tuesday night, defeating them at home 55-34.

The Panthers more than doubled the Seahawks' efforts in the first three quarters, finishing 13-6, 17-8 and 10-4, respectively. Only in the fourth quarter did they come up short… by one. The fourth was 16-15 in the Seahawks' favor.

Panther Mekenzie Voellger proved herself a real basket case, racking up 26 points in the game. Voellger is a habitual high-scorer who had earned double-digit point counts in the prior three games, but nothing close to Tuesday night's performance.

The Panthers are now 2-1 in South Puget Sound League 3A play.

The team is packing it up and heading out for Alaska this week. They play Alaskan prep team Sitka Thursday and Friday, then Ketchikan on Saturday.
