“Loaf’s Labors Lost,” a loaf of bread’s love story set in Renton, has won the “people’s choice award” in the Renton FilmFrenzy 2008 movie competition, based on the results of a poll on rentonreporter.com.

Of course, anyone who has followed the polling online for the last few weeks already knows that the bread won. But, this gives us a rare chance to say, “And the winner is . . . ”

The movie is a winner in the official judging too, winning second place in the Open Division of the competition. The movie is the brainchild of Andrew Forderer, Chris Iley, Elizabeth Snow and Jared Thomas.

And in a special award, one of the actors, CeCe the dog, seen carrying off the poor loaf of bread, received an honorable mention for acting.

“We’re actually really excited and thankful for the opportunity to even participate in Renton Film Frenzy,” Iley said of the group’s wins.

Renton FilmFrenzy was developed by the Renton Community Marketing Campaign, whose members include the Renton Chamber of Commerce, Valley Medical Center, Renton School District, Renton Technical College, Renton Visitors Connection and City of Renton. Renton Municipal Arts Commission is also a Renton FilmFrenzy partner.

Alex Pietsch, the head of the city’s Department of Community and Economic Development Department, said FilmFrenzy will return next year, “bigger and better.”

In official judging for the competition, the “Finger of God” took best picture, best actor and first place in the open division. It came in fifth in the “people’s choice” competition.

In the student division, first place went to “Politically Incorrect,” by Travis Higden, Karly Burmark, Nick Dugovich, Matt Griffin and CJ Capes. It’s a love story between the likenesses of Barack Obama and John McCain. It came in second in the “people’s choice” competition.

The awards were presented recently at the Renton FilmFrenzy Curvee Awards at IKEA Performing Arts Center.
