RENTON FAMILY ALBUM: Ruckmans mark 50th anniversary

Longtime Renton residents, Don and Jeanie Ruckman, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 23, 2009. They were married in Tacoma on Oct. 23, 1959 and moved to Renton in 1960.
Don, an engineering graduate from the University of Washington, worked at Boeing as an engineer from 1959 to 1993. Jeanie, worked at Albertsons, SeaFirst Bank and Arby’s in Renton. Their daughter Teresa and son Michael were born in the old Renton Hospital on Rainier Avenue where McLendon Hardware now sits.
After retirement from Boeing in 1993, the Ruckmans opened Jeanie’s Bakery, specializing in start from scratch, homestyle cookies. In 1999 they closed the bakery and began full retirement, taking several cruises, including their favorite cruise to Tahiti.
Currently Jeanie is active in vintage jewelry, and teaching adult classes at their church, River of Life Fellowship, and Don is active playing trumpet in several bands and has played many musicals including at Renton Civic Theater.
