VValue Village plans to close its Renton location Nov. 14.
The store, first opened March 1967, was the company's first in the Pacific Northwest.
"All that they (corporate) want to share at this point is business conditions was the reason why they shut down the store," said Value Village spokesperson Kaitlin Goodall
The management team members will be transferred to surrounding stores.
All other employees are encouraged to apply for jobs at other locations, Goodall said. "We do have several other positions open."
There will not be a major sales event, Goodall said. The clothing is to be dispersed to other stores.
"Things like this matter," said longtime Fairwood resident Mary Farnsworth, who has been visiting the store since before she can remember. "When you get older, change is hard."
News of the closure surprised visiting costumers, as no major signs were posted.
"You know it's there, and you can go when you need it," Farnsworth said, adding that she was astonished.
The closure was isolated to this store, Goodall said. "We might look at opening stores in the area again."
The store is still accepting donations.
The company plans to have the space at 222 Bronson Way N. vacant by Nov. 20.
