Columnist right about cell phone scofflaws
Jan 14 2009
I so appreciated Mike West’s column (Jan. 9, “Selfish cell yakkers take advantage of wimpy law”) about people not thinking they need to obey the rule about use of cell phones while driving. How hard can it be to wait five minutes until you are out of your car?
I was at a stop light in Covington recently when a young lady was so busy putting on her makeup that she rammed into the back of my car. She looked up for a second and just backed up a little and continued to apply her mascara! She didn’t seem to care much that she had just rear-ended someone.
Why can’t we have a law with some teeth in it?
