Concert is Jan. 3

Kona Kai Coffee us hosting what it’s calling “a pre-Thunderbirds concert.” The R & B band Grooveline will play at the downtown coffee shop starting 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Kona Kai is located at 124 Fourth Ave. S. Kent.

The T-Birds game takes place at 7:05 p.m. right down the street at the ShoWare Center at Kent, on James St. For more information about the Kona Kai concert, call 253-859-5662.

Meeker at event

The Kent Historical Museum annual membership meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Kent Resource Center, 315 E. Meeker St. Headlining the public event is Ray Egan as Ezra Meeker, narrating offbeat but true stories about “what really happened” on the trail to Washington.

Refreshments will be served, and the annual meeting will follow the presentation.
