The Todd Beamer Titans cross county teams rolled over Rogers and Spanaway Lake Wednesday afternoon at Celebration Park.

The Beamer girls downed Rogers, 21-20, and beat Spanaway Lake, 15-41, over the 5,000-meter course. The Titan boys beat Rogers, 15-48, and Spanaway Lake, 15-50.

Beamer sophomore Taylor Kartes out-kicked teammate Sara Mussa in the final 100 yards to win the girls individual race in a time of 19:58. The time was a Beamer course record over the 3.1-mile course at Celebration Park. Mussa finished just a second behind Kartes.

On the boys’ side, Beamer’s Keegan Claxton won the individual race in a time of 17:22.

“They have put in a lot of training this summer and are ready to be in the top-three in the league with Emerald Ridge and Curtis,” said Beamer coach Scott Haines.

The Titans have been solid during the early season. Beamer recently competed in the 3-Course Challenge in Seaside, Ore., which included 3,000 runners and over 100 teams. The Titan girls ended up second overall and the boys finished third as a team. Kartes and Mussa both earned silver medals in the respective divisions and junior Jacob Wittman earned a podium visit by finishing seventh overall in his race.
