While scouting Craigslist for babysitting services, an Everett woman came across a disturbing ad out of Federal Way.

On Nov. 17, a complainant called Federal Way police to report an ad that appeared to be soliciting money for an unborn child. The complainant first called Child Protective Services, which referred her to police. She told Federal Way police the ad appeared to be posted by a woman who stated she was about 22 years old, Caucasian and 21 weeks pregnant, according to a police report. The ad listed an anonymous Federal Way address. The ad was later changed to read Seattle area.

Police researched the ad, which was posted under the title "Have you ever wanted to adopt a little boy?" according to the police report. It detailed a relationship between the woman and an unknown man that did not go well. The woman became pregnant and the man did not want to take responsibility for the child, according to the report. The woman went on to say she did not feel abortion was ethical, nor did she feel she could financially support the baby. The woman requested money to cover health care she could not afford. She asked that only well-off individuals respond to her ad.

Police were unable to identify the woman or an address to associate with her. The case is closed pending further details.
