From staff reports:

In the rape case involving Oscar-winning songwriter/producer/director Joseph Brooks, Federal Way resident Shawni Lucier was charged with nine misdemeanor counts of criminal facilitation, according to a King 5 News report.

Lucier, as Brooks' personal assistant, helped pick victims and arranged their travel, according to King 5 News. Of the 11 rape victims, seven come from Washington state, King 5 reports.

Brooks has pleaded not guilty in Manhattan's state Supreme Court in New York. Lucier is expected to turn herself in on Monday and faces up to one year in prison, according to King 5 News.

In 1978, Brooks won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "You Light Up My Life."
