Art wanted for Federal Way's Martin Luther King celebration

School students are encouraged to submit art entries for the annual Martin Luther King Community Celebration on Jan. 19.

The contest is open for home and public school students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Posters, essays and poetry that incorporate the "Take Action...Engage the Dream" theme will be accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 29. Entries should be hand delivered to City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S., or mailed to Martin Luther King Committee, City of Federal Way, P.O. Box 9718, Federal Way, WA 98063.

Grades K-5 may enter the poster contest. Grades 3-5 may enter the essay contest. Grades 6-8 may enter the poster and essay contests. Grades 9-12 may enter the poster, essay and poetry contests.

Entries may be submitted in up to three categories. Prizes will be awarded for each grade category. First prize will win $100, second prize $50 and third prize $25.
