Greenwater meeting is Saturday

Aug 17 2009

As a result of comments from some in the community, the organizers and engineers of the Greenwater River Floodplain Restoration Project have arranged a community meeting to explain their plans.

There will be several specialists on hand to make a presentation and to provide feedback on the project.

The meeting is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Greenwater Community Center.

Property owners along the river have expressed concerns about the risks associated with the project. Others are concerned about the risks the project may hold for the state Route 410 bridge that spans the Greenwater River. Additional concerns have been expressed about maintenance of the proposed engineered log jams.

The project is being proposed by the South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service.
