Santa Patrols begin rounds

Dec 09 2008

Firefighters throughout the Plateau will again be out in force spreading some holiday cheer this month, sponsoring Santa Patrols that blanket the region.

Firefighters from Enum-claw/District 28, Buckley and East Pierce Fire and Rescue operate patrols, handing out candy canes and allowing youngsters to visit with Santa.

Enumclaw firefighters will tour city streets beginning tonight, Wednesday, through Thursday, taking off between 5:30 and 6 each night.

The schedule calls for the following routes:

• Tonight, Watson Street west to Semanski, Roosevelt south to Warner Avenue;

• Thursday, Semanski Street west to 244th, McHugh Avenue south to Warner Avenue;

• Friday, Semanski east to Division, McHugh Avenue south to Roosevelt Avenue;

• Saturday, everything from Division east, McHugh south to Roosevelt.

The Buckley Fire Department will be making the rounds Monday through Dec. 19.

Routes will be the same as in previous years.

East Pierce crews started their annual rounds Saturday and will continue through Dec. 21, going out from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. They will hit the Finlandia and Sunset Meadows neighborhoods off 234th Avenue Sunday. The following Sunday, Dec. 21, they will be in South Prairie and Wilkeson.

Firefighters warn everyone to be cautious around the moving vehicles.
