Piano students compete at Central Washington festival

Four local piano students recently competed in Central Washington University’s 2009 Sonata-Sonatina Festival.
The festival offers students high school-age and younger the opportunity to perform before a judge, compete with other students and receive a critique of their performance. Students compete in a given level and division.
Playing for an adjudicator at the Oct. 24 event were Maya Arigala from Bonney Lake, Brie Felker and Rachel Leeper from Enumclaw, and Savannah McNabb from Carbonado. Arigala and McNabb both received an Honorable Mention for their level and division taking home a medal. Felker is a student of Barb Shane. The other three are students of Angela Wentz. Both teachers are members of the Enumclaw Music Teachers Association.
The students of Angela Wentz and Julia Wentz presented their fall recital Nov. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Angela Wentz’s students performing in the recital were: Arigala, Kaylee Kosko, Blake Leahy, Dalis Llewellyn, Lillian McNabb, Logan McNabb, Savannah McNabb, Grace Pearl, Jordyn Price, Madalyn Schoenhair, Kayla Stewart, Rian Warren, Sadi Wentz, Brea Westerberg, Callista White and Kaelynn Whiting.
Julia Wentz’s students performing in the recital were: Erik Anderson, Aaron Gonzales, Keller Flint, Ruth Flint, Adelia Nunn, Frannie Nunn, Trevor Nunn, Kenny Ridenour and Haunz Stroshein. Both Wentzes teach in Buckley and are members of the Enumclaw Music Teachers Association.
