Enumclaw gallery highlights Seattle-area artist's work

The city of Enumclaw's Gallery 2009 presents Seattle-area writer and artist Peter Chafouleas' exhibit "Photographs with a Twist" through Oct. 6.

According to city of Enumclaw Cultural Programs Manager Gary LaTurner, Chafouleas is a master with Photoshop and visual images.

"His creative force is put to work in a diverse collection of images for his current show in Enumclaw’s Gallery 2009," LaTurner stated. "Rendering images of real objects and places into abstractions takes skill and knowledge. Peter Chafouleas has a very creative body of work on display at City Hall."

"Being an artist is still alien to me" Chafouleas said in a press release. "A few years ago I sat down with Photoshop for the first time and, well, thoughtless art ensued.”

Chafouleas prefers to call himself a cynic and hence his works have a subliminal darkness within the resulting brightness of each piece. Armed with a Nikon D70 and Adobe Photoshop as his medium, he is one of the most talented innovators of our time in digital artwork, LaTurner noted.

Gallery 2009 is in the Council Chambers at Enumclaw City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibition space are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Enumclaw City Hall is closed on national holidays. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesday of each week for municipal court proceedings.
