Krista Dietz of Enumclaw has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for spring semester 2009.

She qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Enumclaw High School senior Zachary Ross has been named a commended student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 34,000 commended students across the nation are recognized for their academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2010 competition for National Merit Scholarships, commended students place among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who enter the 2010 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Erin Boyle and Kelsey Waddington were among the 850 students who were named to the Pacific Lutheran University Dean’s List for Spring 2009. The list recognizes outstanding academic achievement, as it requires a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the term. Boyle is the daughter of Bill and Devon Boyle of Buckley. A 2003 graduate of White River High School, she is pursuing a degree in nursing.

Waddington, who recently studied away in the Caribbean, is the daughter of Pam Neigel and Jim Waddington, both of Buckley. A 2006 graduate of White River High School, she is pursuing a degree in social work with a minor in psychology.
