The state soccer tournament is one step away for either Kentlake or Tahoma.

The two girls soccer teams play a 2 p.m. Saturday at Federal Way Stadium in the West Central District playoffs for a berth in the state games.

Tahoma won the South Puget Sound League 4A, North Division and played Emerald Ridge at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup in the SPSL playoffs Wednesday losing 2-1 a dramatic double overtime, sudden-death shootout.

The Bears showed remarkable speed and athletic ability in the game against the undefeated Jaguars.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Tate Latimer scored unassisted at the 48 minute mark in the second half to tie the game.

Tahoma is the second seed from the SPSL in the district playoffs.

The Falcons won their SPSL playoff game against Decatur 1-0, which was also played at Sparks Stadium.

Details on the game are not available.

Kentlake is the No. 5 seed in the district tournament.

Tahoma and Kentlake played twice this season with the Bears winning the first game 2-1 Sept. 22 and the two teams tied 1-1 Oct. 20.
