If you have not yet mailed in your November voter’s ballet, I encourage you to vote for Erin Weaver for Maple Valley City Council. I have had many talks with Erin about our city. I can tell you she is passionate about Maple Valley and wants to see it develop into a vibrant place for our families. She also has the vision and the drive to make things happen.

How many of us with children have been waiting for ball fields or other kid friendly sites? Or what about places with a nice restaurant, unique shops and activities that we can bring the whole family to? My older daughter was about 6 years old when the community started talking about building desperately needed soccer fields and she was only 10 when the legacy site was purchased with promises of a new city hall, specialty shops, and things for families to do. It all sounded great!- some much needed facilities and a place where we could all go together. Unfortunately, my daughter is now in college and none of these things have happened. My other two kids are in high school and I’m afraid it’s too late for them to be able to utilize these things as well- but it may not be too late for yours.

There are only two people running for City Council that have kids in our school district, and Erin is one of them. (Her kids go to Lake Wilderness Elementary, Tahoma Jr. High and Tahoma High School.) There is no doubt that Erin has family interests at heart. She has held the office of PTA president and/or vice president at all the schools her kids have attended.

Erin is definitely qualified for the job as city councilor. She has spent countless hours serving on several city boards including the Planning Commission, the Economic Development Committee and the Shoreline Master Program Committee. Erin also served as the interim city councilor a few years ago when someone stepped down. Now she is eager to take this job on full force. So if you are concerned about improving our community for families, and you are ready to see things happen, join me in voting for Erin Weaver for Maple Valley City Council.
