Kent Fire Department douses home blaze on Kent Kangley Road

Nov 27 2009

At 12:40 a.m. Friday firefighters from Kent responded to a report of a house fire in the 12100 block of Kent Kangley Road.

The firefighters found the one story, single family residence with smoke pouring out of the house. They were able to control the fire within 20 minutes and prevent it from spreading to any of the other nearby occupancies. The three occupants, two adults and a child, were able to escape prior to the fire department arriving and were not injured.

The family is being cared for by relatives and the fire is currently under investigation. It is not known whether there were working smoke alarms in the house.

The Kent Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms should be checked monthly, their batteries changed annually, and the entire alarm replaced every 10 years.
