City of Covington plans public meeting for comprehensive plan amendments
Nov 10 2009
The Covington City Council has scheduled a public hearing on 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at in City Council Chambers regarding seven separate proposed comprehensive plan amendments that are part of the 2009 annual comprehensive plan amendment and update process.
Many of these comprehensive plan amendments were proposed as a result of the recently completed downtown plan and zoning study that has been underway for the past nine months. These recommendations for changes in policies have now been completed and incorporated into the city’s proposed comprehensive plan amendments.
City officials stated at this time there are no specific zoning district changes to the development standards for any of the DN1 through DN10 zoning district classifications. The new zoning and design regulations for all of the DN zoning districts will be written next year and there will be multiple opportunities for public review and comment during the first six months of 2010.
Visit the city Web site to read and obtain copies of the Final Downtown Plan and Zoning Study and find out more information about the proposed amendments. Written comments for City Council to consider are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, and in-person comments can be made at the hearing.
