Boeing plant in Kent evacuated after small explosion and fire

Boeing’s Kent plant was partially evacuated today at about 7:30 a.m. when a battery test resulted in a small explosion and fire in one of the company’s labs.

The Kent Fire Department along with Renton and Tukwila emergency personnel responded to the call,

The accident caused smoke and fumes to travel through portions of the building in the Boeing complex at the corner of S.E. 212 St. and 68 Ave. S.E.

The areas was evacuated as a precaution. No one was injured.

Once the problem was stabilized, Boeing employees took over to clean up the battery test.
