Christian Friends of Troops take donations to send overseas

In addition to getting their groceries, shoppers at the Safeway store in Maple Valley last Saturday could do something for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Volunteers for Christian Friends of Troops, from Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, accepted donations of food and personal-care items for military personnel.

In addition, old cell phones were collected for the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” drive. The phones are exchanged for pre-paid phone cards for troops.

Shepherd of the Valley is part of ongoing efforts to send donated supplies to troops. Additional information on the campaign is available at (425) 432-1373.
