Maple Valley Rotary thanks participants and sponsors of golf tournament

Jun 25 2009

The 13th annual golf tournament to benefit the Maple Valley Rotary scholarship fund and Greater Maple Valley Community Center (GMVCC) youth programs took place on June 12 at Druids Glen Golf Club.

Bob Neal, rotary representative, and Alison Jenkins, Greater Maple Valley Community Center board member, spearheaded these efforts that raised more than $10,000 for both programs.

Rotary and the center would like to thank the 144 golfers who played in this scramble and the following major sponsors who made this community event possible:

• Bob Bridge Toyota, Title Sponsor;

• Qwest Business, Gold Sponsor;

• Silver Sponsors;

• All Service Plumbing & Contracting, Inc.;

• Claffey’s Painting;

• Country Financial/Ehrin Stumpges;

• Super Elephant Car Wash;

• Yarrow Bay Development LLC;

• Kings Transmission Auto Service Center, Hole-in-One, with car provided by Bowen Scarff Ford and

• special thanks to our Bronze sponsors, in-kind donors, and volunteers

When Bob Bridge was asked what made him decide to be the title sponsor of this event, he said, “I’ve been successful in my business the past 25 years, and now it’s time to give back.”

When asked what his focus area for giving is, he responded, “education.” He elaborated that his operations manager suggested he research rotary as an avenue for his philanthropic efforts, and he recently joined Renton Rotary.

This tournament has a long history of success, mixing golf and generosity. Proceeds will contribute to college scholarships given annually by Maple Valley Rotary to local high school graduates, as well as to much-needed summer teen activities offered by The DEN Youth Center.

Maple Valley Rotary is a community service organization focusing on the local communities of Maple Valley and Black Diamond. The Greater Maple Valley Community Center service area includes Maple Valley, Hobart, Ravensdale and unincorporated King County within the Tahoma school district.
