Reaching Out Fair set for Oct. 8

The public is invited to attend the 11th annual Reaching Out Fair at the Auburn Performing Arts Center on Oct. 8 from 6-8:30 p.m.
Co-hosted by the Auburn School District, the Cities of Auburn, Algona and Pacific, Green River Community College and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, the evening focuses on how to keep children and youth safe.
A resource information fair will be available from 6-7 p.m. Resources from various organizations such as Auburn Parks and Recreation, YMCA and Auburn Youth Resources will be shared with the community. The information fair is specifically geared toward middle school students. They are encouraged to attend to learn more about the resources available to them, as well as to be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 SuperMall gift certificates. Free pizza, juice and cookies will be provided.
After the resource information fair, student presenters show off their talent and share testimonials about individuals who have made a difference in their lives. This part of the event highlights student success and is intended to communicate that all children can make an impact in their homes, schools and communities.
The live finale includes a hip-hop dance performance by the Fab-5, a local organization dedicated to provide youth a safe place to develop their talents within the hip-hop culture.
The Fab-5 will introduce its hip-hop dancers and youth outreach program to all middle school students during school-wide assemblies the week of the fair. They will be held on the following dates:
• Rainier Middle School: Monday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m.
• Cascade Middle School: Tuesday, Oct. 6, 8:15 a.m.
• Mt. Baker Middle School: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m.
• Olympic Middle School: Thursday, Oct. 8, 8:15 a.m.
