May 24 2008

The Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation

Department is currently accepting applications to audition for the 2008 Auburn On Stage! singing competition, formerly known as Auburn Idol.

The auditions will be conducted July 19 and 20, from 1-4 p.m., at the Auburn Ave. Theater, 10 Auburn Ave., in downtown Auburn.

Auburn On Stage! is open to participants ages 16 and over. The junior version is open to participants ages 8-15. Singers selected from the auditions will compete at the fourth annual Auburn On Stage! finals on Friday, Aug. 1 at Les Gove Park.

The finalist concert will be held as part of the Summer Sounds & Comcast Cinema Series. The concert will be followed by a screening of “Hairspray” (PG).

Auditions are open to residents of Auburn, or those who live within the Auburn and/or Dieringer School District boundary. Pre-registration is requested. A registration fee of $10 is required. Winners will receive cash prizes and have the opportunity to perform at community events.

Singers can sign-up for auditions through the Auburn Parks, Arts and Rec Department, located at 910 Ninth St. SE in Auburn. The registration form is available at www.auburnwa.gov.
