Pratt endorsed by Democrats of S.J. County
Lovel Pratt has been endorsed by the Democrats of San Juan County.

Pratt is a candidate for San Juan County Council, District 1. The County Council race is non-partisan and Pratt has sought endorsements from all the political parties in San Juan County.

Pratt’s monthly meeting in July will be in the San Juan Island Library’s meeting room on Thursday, 5:15 p.m. Pratt wants to meet with residents and hear about their concerns and priorities for the community. She also wants to share her views on the issues.

Pratt will have a booth at the San Juan County Fair Aug. 13-16. Residents can sign her campaign signature quilt.

Quall endorses Henderson for state Senate
State Rep. Dave Quall, D-40th District, has endorsed Ken Henderson for the 40th District state Senate.

“Ken Henderson has gained my confidence and support, from his impeccable track record of service to Bellingham and Whatcom county, to his humanitarian medical work for children in Third World countries,” Quall said in a press release.

“Ken has proven that he is committed to the people in the communities of the 40th District and those who are less fortunate in communities everywhere.”

Henderson, 59, is a Democrat. He practiced optometry for 25 years in Bellingham, Lynden and East Sound. He served on the Whatcom County Council, Bellingham Planning Commission, Whatcom County Parks Board and the Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation Board.

He is one of six candidates for the Senate position.

Morris endorses Ranker for state Senate
State Rep. Jeff Morris, D-40th District, has endorsed Kevin Ranker for the 40th District state Senate.

Ranker, a San Juan County Council member, is the nominee of the 40th District Democratic Party. He was also endorsed last week by Progressive Majority, an organization that advances and supports progressive candidates throughout the nation; and the Sierra Club.

“I know that Kevin will hit the ground running for the people of the Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan counties,” said Morris, speaker pro tem of the state House.

“Kevin offers the right mix of experience, proven leadership on the issues, and a passion for our families and communities.”

Ranker is one of six candidates for the Senate position. In addition to serving on the San Juan County Council, Ranker has chaired the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council and the Washington Coastal Counties Caucus. and is a member of the Ecosystem Coordination Board of the Puget Sound Partnership.

Meet GOP candidates in Friday Harbor Saturday
Meet Republican candidates for state offices and Congress on Saturday, 2-6 p.m., at The Big Red Barn, 1721 Cattle Point Road, just outside Friday Harbor.

The event is hosted by the San Juan County Republican Party.
