Burke and Unpingco tied the knot on Valentine's Day

Jun 23 2009

Carrie Burke and Juan Unpingco of Friday Harbor were married Feb. 14, 2009, at Valley Church on San Juan Island.

The sweethearts took their wedding vows on Valentine's Day in a ceremony attended by family and friends. The wedding was small but priceless, according to the newlyweds, who honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico.

The couple fell in love while attending Central Washington University, where both earned a degree in Community Health. They moved to Friday Harbor two years ago and are employed at Inter Island Medical Center. Burke grew up in Leavenworth, Wash., and Unpingco, who, with a father in the Navy, often moved from city to city during his childhood, graduated from Oak Harbor High School.

The wedding was officiated by the couple’s most inspirational college professor, Dr. Ken Briggs, and the reception took place at Downrigger’s Restaurant.
