Chamber Music San Juans presents “Music for a Summer Solstice” on the San Juan Community Theatre’s Whittier Stage on Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Artistic director and clarinetist Patricia Kostek brings together some of CMSJ’s favorite performers, including violinist Ron Patterson, violist Roxanna Patterson, and Grammy Award-nominee bassoonist Martin Kuuskman.

Born in Estonia, Kuuskmann is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Yale University School of Music. Kostek notes that Kuuskmann's charismatic and engaging performances throughout the world have earned him repute as a leading young instrumentalist. The New York Times has praised Kuuskmann’s playing as "dynamic ... amazing ... gripping.”

The Pattersons, Kostek and Kuuskmann will be joined by pianist Cary Chow and Seattle cellist Kevin Krenz in presenting Poulenc’s cheeky "Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon," Mendelssohn’s virtuosic "Concertpiece for Clarinet and Bassoon," Mozart’s charming "Quartet for Bassoon and Strings" and Brahms’ powerful "Quartet in G Minor" for strings and piano -- musical works perfect for a summer evening,

This performance is sponsored by King's Market. Tickets are $23 for adults and $12 for student reserved; $5 student RUSH will be available at the door. A private donor has made provision for free tickets to anyone needing financial assistance to attend a theater event.
