League of Women Voters election forum on Aug. 2

In advance of the August 19 primary election, the League of Women Voters of the San Juans has scheduled a public forum for candidates to meet the voters.

The forum will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday August 2, at Mullis Center, 589 Nash Street, Friday Harbor.

Invitations have been issued to candidates for the following positions: U.S. House of Representatives, 2nd District; State Senate, 40th District; San Juan County Council, San Juan South; San Juan County Council, Orcas West; San Juan County Superior Court Judge.

The top two contenders in the first four contests will advance to the November general election. The judgeship will be decided in the primary.

Ballots for the election, which will be conducted entirely by mail, will be sent out August 1.
