EMT class for community members

Orcas Island Fire & Rescue will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class for community members interested in becoming volunteers.
“The first class will be Saturday, Jan. 9” Division Chief Patrick Shepler said. “We already have nearly a full class, but we can still consider last minute applications, especially from the Eastern and Western areas of the island.”
Shepler said that the class is about 120 hours, with final testing being off-island via computer-adaptive testing through the National Registry of EMTs.
“We are looking for active volunteers who are capable of delivering the best care possible under the worst conditions possible," he said.
