Orcas School broken into on Dec. 26
Dec 31 2008
The Orcas Island Middle School was broken into this past weekend. San Juan County Sheriff Bill Cumming says the theft probably occurred on Friday night, Dec. 26. According to Cumming, access was gained through a window and four computers and a laptop were stolen with an approximate value of $6,000.
“The theft is under active investigation,” Cumming said.
Earlier this month, Orcas Island’s Children’s House, the early learning childhood center, had an Apple computer and a camera stolen and computer equipment and $1,160 in cash disappeared from an Orcas Island business office on Commercial Park Road.
In November, a laptop computer was taken from the UPS office at the Eastsound airport in an apparent after-hours break-in and theft. In October, a laptop computer and a digital camera were taken in an apparent after-hours burglary at a construction site office on Main Street.
