Candidates Forum update: 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Eastsound Fire Hall on Wednesday, July 30

Jul 29 2008

A "Meet the Candidates" event will be held at the Eastsound Fire Hall on Wednesday, July 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Spearheaded by Candidate Mindy Kayl, who contacted the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce and the other Orcas West candidates – Richard Fralick, Alan Lichter and Bruce Orchid – the meeting will be facilitated by Lisa Byers, Executive Director of OPAL Housing Trust.

The Orcas West District (District 4) is all of Orcas Island west of North Beach Road, and includes Crane and Waldron Islands. Only those county residents who live in District 4 will be eligible to cast votes for the Orcas West candidates in the August 19 primary.

In accordance with new state law, only the top two candidates from the primary will advance to the General Election in November.

County Judicial Candidates Randy Gaylord and John Linde will also attend. The winner of the judicial contest will be decided in the Primary Election.

Ballots for the primary election will be mailed Aug. 1. San Juan County's ballots are entirely mail-in ballots.

For questions, contact the County Elections Department at http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/sanjuan/Pages/default.aspx.
