Graveside service for Shaffer

Jan 11 2006

To all who would like to share in the loving memory of Carla Shaffer's life,

there will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Park Cemetery Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. It will be followed by a celebration of her life at the Orcas Center Madrona Room at 12:30 p.m.

Daughters Karina Shaffer-Bauck and Lyria Shaffer-Bauck request colorful clothing at the service.

Shaffer's friends and neighbors request, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Carla Shaffer Memorial Fund at Islanders Bank in Eastsound. Virtually all of the proceeds will go to her two daughters. Lyria, a 2004 graduate of Orcas High School, is a student at Colorado College. Karina, who graduated in 2000, is residing and working in northern California.

Carla Shaffer died last week. San Juan County Coroner Randy Gaylord has determined that death was caused by drowning.

A full obituary will appear in next week's Sounder.
