Donations needed for Olga Daze Barn Sale and Silent Auction

Summer should be in full swing on Saturday, July 18 in Olga – the day when smiles, good food and live music will welcome islanders and visitors alike to the traditional Olga Daze “Sell-a-bration.” Included in the festivities will be a fanciful parade in which everyone is invited to participate, a fire truck for kids to ride on, a giant barn sale, an extensive silent auction, games for young and old, food concessions to suit all tastes, a BBQ and bake sale, and the much-anticipated quilt raffle drawing.

This annual event is held to raise funds for the Olga Community Club, and this year the proceeds will go towards the much-needed renovation of the clubhouse kitchen. The clubhouse was built nearly 100 years ago and housed the historic Olga Energetic Club until it was deeded over to the Olga community in 1997. Several years ago, Olga Daze funds helped purchase property next to the clubhouse, now known as Olga Park, which serves as the main location for the event.

Islanders are invited to donate valuable goods and services for the silent auction by calling 376-3224. Previously owned items intended for the barn sale may be dropped off at Olga Park between 5 to 7 p.m. on July 9 and 10, and July 16 and 17, or by appointment. Donors are asked to check items first with the attendant and to be sure all items are clean and functional.
