Vegetable gardening to be topic of next Orcas Island Garden Club meeting

The Orcas Island Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Jan. 21 in the Madrona Room at the Orcas Center at 10 a.m.

The speaker for the meeting is Carol Miles, who will talk about “Vegetable Gardening.”

Miles is the Vegetable Extension Specialist at the Mount Vernon Research and Extension Center. She joined the staff in 1994 after earning a Ph.D. from Cornell in vegetable crops. She has conducted on-farm research programs to study alternative high-value crops such as edamame, baby corn, pea shoots, and wasabi.
