Garden Club to meet Nov. 12

Nov 05 2008

In November, the Orcas Garden Club will meet on Nov. 12 instead of the usual third Wednesday of the month. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. on November 12 in the Madrona Room of the Orcas Center.

Following a brief business meeting, Marguerite Greening, popular Orcas Island landscaper, will give a talk entitled Remarkable Trees. Working with the existing large tree canopy on Orcas, Marguerite will discuss ways to screen, place smaller trees in the landscape and give practical tips on caring for trees once they are planted.

Marguerite has been working with plants professionally on Orcas since 1987. She and her husband, Chuck Greening, operate a landscaping business whose work has been featured in Northwest publications. As Marguerite says, “Nature holds the highest standard of beauty. We consider it a success when our customers’ needs integrate seamlessly with the character of the property they fell in love with.” For more information call either Ken Walker at 376-0501 or Midge Kraetzer at 376-2373.
