Celebration and shelter dedication at the Orcas Off-Leash Area
Jun 15 2009
Two years ago, the Eastsound Off Leash Dog Park was hidden away near the Orcas Animal Shelter and used by just a few dogs and their people. Through the efforts of a wide variety of donors and island businesses that provided free or discounted goods and services, the park is in a new location at the corner of Mt. Baker and North Beach Roads, and is a very popular place.
The park has a new name, the “Orcas Off-Leash Area,” and a newly completed shelter made of local timber. To celebrate the new location and all of community efforts that make the off-leash area a great Orcas Island asset, there will be a “Paw-ty” on Saturday, June 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. (after the Solstice Parade). The festivities will include pet portraits, dog agility demonstrations, games for dogs and people – with prizes, a raffle, information about pet care on Orcas, and a shelter dedication and donor appreciation at 3 p.m.
Bring your furry friend and have some fun on the solstice celebrating the Orcas Off-Leash Area.
